Date: December 2007
Mr C. was on holiday in Spain, and was a passenger in a car driven by a friend, who lost control of the car and it went off the road. Mr C. was quite seriously injured, and instructed a firm of solicitors to pursue a claim against the driver through his insurers. Unfortunately the solicitors failed to realise that even though the claim was brought in England they still had to follow the Spanish time limit for claims. They issued proceedings too late, and so the claim against the driver failed. We were eventually consulted and brought a claim against his former solicitors, as a result the professional negligence team recovered compensation for Mr C. in excess of £30,000.
