France Show 2010

On Thursday we were thinking that it might be a logistical nightmare getting to Earl’s Court for the start of the France Show last Friday, 8 January. There were reports of severe weather for the weekend, and we couldn’t predict the conditions in London. We left Kent at 5am to give us enough time in case the weather wasn’t in our favour.

We were lucky. We had a clear run up the motorway and we were ready to meet and greet visitors to the show when the doors opened at 10am.

We were expecting the number of visitors to be less on Friday because of the disruptions to public transport and the conditions of the roads but we were pleasantly surprised by how many determined French property house hunters and francophiles braved the cold and ice to get to the show.

Numbers on Saturday and Sunday were better, and thankfully the severe weather over the weekend didn’t affect us.

We met some people we had spoken to last year, as well as others who are just embarking on property hunting in France. We also spoke with people who already have a French property but who now need to turn their attention to reviewing their Wills to make sure they have given proper consideration to how French succession law will affect their estates.

I gave the afternoon seminars each day on the buying process in France, giving the opportunity to many visitors to hear how a purchase proceeds, and giving some hints and tips on what to look out for when buying.

Thank you to all those who attended the seminars and came to talk to us on our stand. We look forward to having the opportunity to speak with you again to help you with your purchase,  Wills or other French property related matters.
