We advised in the creation of a charitable trust whose objectives were to provide a fund for the restoration and maintenance of Provender, in Faversham, Kent, a home/property of local and national historic importance.
The owners are undertaking the monumental task of restoring Provender which is Grade I listed. We were involved in the sale of land to help fund the restoration project. The sale itself was complex with a far from straightforward site planning obligation.
Our involvement helped achieve funds for the restoration project, the creation of an ongoing charitable trust to provide future maintenance funds and public access to a great stately home in Kent.
We have worked closely with our independent school clients and Universities on the consolidation, alteration and replacement of Charity Commission schemes and their involvement with related charities.
We have acted for a University in the winding up of a charitable (student grant giving) trust and have dealt with the subsequent transfer of assets and responsibilities to the University.
Advising the trading company arm of a charity with regard to the acquisition of a number of new retail units to enable expansion of their shop operation.
We have handled a significant sale of land on behalf of an Almshouse Charity to assist the charity with their plans for future expansion.
We have obtained Charity Commission consent for the sale of Charity Commission property to a connected person and dealt with the subsequent sale.
We have advised a local farmers club in the winding up of a grant giving charity and subsequently transferred assets to a charity with similar objects.
