The Financial Services Team at Furley Page Solicitors advises businesses and individuals and believes that people should not have found themselves too adversely affected by Wednesday’s Budget.
Simon Ludden, Financial Services Manager, said "Overall this budget gave the impression of being very circumspect, with few major changes and some encouragement to small businesses. As expected public borrowing is to be increased but there is a worry that Gordon Brown is relying too much on optimistic economic forecasts to save him from having to raise taxes.
"While the threshold for inheritance tax has increased in line with inflation, people will be aware that their properties will have increased in value far more than that over the past year. More people than ever will be caught in the inheritance tax net and need to plan accordingly."
The team of Simon Ludden, Ruth Dolan and Nicola Smallbone treat clients individually. They tailor financial solutions to match personal or business circumstances.
Simon said: "Despite rumours that various tax planning tools were to be eradicated, this did not materialise. However this does not mean future budgets will be quite so benign. Planning early is the best method of ensuring you benefit from tax saving opportunities."
