Call to action for providers of care services

17 March 2010

A newly-launched care sector team at leading regional law firm Furley Page is running a series of breakfast seminars aimed at providers of care services and care home owners and managers.

The seminars are intended as a call-to-action prior to the October 1 deadline requiring adult social care and independent healthcare providers to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

They are being held at the firm’s Canterbury and Thames Gateway offices in April and May and will explore the impact of the October deadline and other key issues including employment law and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA), and the implications of the Mental Capacity Act 2007.

Liz Brady, associate and specialist commercial property lawyer at Furley Page, said: “This is a very special area of the law and few firms of solicitors are able to offer the range of services and quality of advice that we can provide relating to care homes and independent hospitals and hospices, and the provision of nursing and domiciliary care. Members of our care sector team are acknowledged by either The Legal 500, Chambers UK or both guides, demonstrating their expertise in their practice areas.

“The seminars are an important initiative for people involved in the care service industry – particularly in view of the approaching October 1 deadline.”

Furley Page’s 10-strong care sector team offers expert advice on regulatory, registration and compliance issues – including health and safety; employment and HR; debt recovery; buying and selling commercial property and land; company and commercial issues; mental health and capacity; older and vulnerable clients, and independent financial advice*.

The seminars are at:

  • 39 St Margaret’s Street, Canterbury on April 21, 23 and 30
  • Admiral’s Offices, Main Gate Road, The Historic Dockyard, Chatham on May 18, 20 and 25

Registration and a light breakfast is from 8am – 8.45am and the seminars run from 8.45am – 10.15am. To book, call Judy Sutunc on 01227 763939 or email care@furleypage.co.uk
