Dealing with legal issues for the elderly client and carers often needs specialist experience and a genuine understanding of matters relating to their concerns from planning for retirement to managing trusts and estates. Recognising this need, Kent-based law firm Furley Page has expanded its legal services for elderly people by appointing legal executive Nicola Rostron who, as well as general private client work, specialises in affairs of the elderly.
Nicola, a member of The Law Society’s Probate Section, regularly gives seminars on planning for retirement and writes on issues affecting inheritance tax and drafting wills. Her expert knowledge also includes trusts and estates, preparing enduring powers of attorney and court of protection work. In addition, she is a fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
Harvey Barrett, head of private client services at Furley Page, said: “Nicola’s appointment further enhances our expertise, particularly in dealing with delicate legal matters surrounding elderly clients and carers. She also acts as a trustee for charities.”
Nicola, who has previously worked for two large regional law firms, said: “Furley Page has an impressive reputation, and I’m delighted to have joined a firm that will allow me to extend my specialist knowledge in legal matters affecting elderly people.”
In her spare time Nicola, aged 38, enjoys horse riding, walking her dog, cooking and reading. She is married, has two children and lives at Sittingbourne.
