Employment Law Maze Unravelled

23 June 2004

The Marriott Tudor Park Hotel in Maidstone recently hosted a successful seminar on Employment Law to help local employers and professional advisors find their way through the Employment Law maze.
Presented by Canterbury based law firm, Furley Page, in conjunction with Maidstone Chamber of Commerce, the seminar which was open to all businesses, was attended by just under 20 delegates, all eager to get up to speed with the legalities they face and to grasp the complex changing legislation.
The ‘Employment Law Update’ was an introduction to the issues employers face and was the first in a series of seminars, the remainder of which will be held later this month and next.
Andrew Masters, Partner and Employment lawyer at Furley Page led the breakfast seminar. Experienced in training and lecturing he will also be leading the ‘Unfair Dismissal and Handling Discipline’ seminar as well as the ‘Managing Sickness Absence’ seminar.
Commenting on the seminar, Margaret Deans of Larkings Chartered Accountants said: “The information and literature we received was extremely useful and I am able to fully understand all the issues now thanks to the interactive nature of the seminars. I am looking forward to attending the next two with my colleagues.”
The Chamber will be holding another two seminar workshops that follow on from the Employment Law Update covering Unfair Dismissal and Managing Sickness Absence. Places are very limited and selling fast but there is still some space left. Both seminars are open to all businesses and are not restricted to Chamber members. The ‘Unfair Dismissal and Handling Discipline’ workshop will take place on Thursday 24 June at 8am and costs £30 for Chamber members and £40 for non-members. ‘Managing Sickness Absence’ will take place on Thursday 8th July.
