The complex area of Employment Law is being unravelled at a series of workshops organised by the Maidstone Chamber of Commerce in a bid to help local businesses understand all the legalities they face.
The workshops, presented by law firm, Furley Page, in conjunction with the Maidstone Chamber are being held during June and July at the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel in Maidstone.
Jo James from Maidstone Chamber said: “Employment Law is the one key area that many businesspeople still struggle with as legislation changes so quickly. The implications of getting it wrong are huge, so we urge all businesses to think carefully about their corporate responsibilities.”
The three seminars: Employment Law Update, Unfair Dismissal and Handling Discipline and Managing Sickness Absence, are open to all local businesses and start at 8am with breakfast included. Andrew Masters, Partner at Furley Page and a specialist employment lawyer with extensive experience of training and lecturing, is leading the workshops.
Andrew said: “Employment Law is an area where being forewarned is being forearmed. Each workshop will last three hours and will provide practical, relevant guidance on areas in which all employers need to be up to date. The alternative could be time-consuming, and costly, employment tribunals.”
‘Employment Law Update’, which is the first of the three seminars, takes place on Thursday 3rd June at 8am and costs £30 for Chamber members. ‘Unfair Dismissal and Handling Discipline’ and ‘Managing Sickness Absence’ will take place on Thursday 24th June and Thursday 8th July respectively.
