03 November 2008
As it approaches the first anniversary of the launch of its Thames Gateway office at Chatham Historic Dockyard, leading regional law firm Furley Page is bucking the trend and celebrating a period of growth.
Despite the current economic gloom, the team at Chatham – headed up by commercial law partner Susan Jennings – has had a significant launch year, expanding its debt recovery and corporate teams.
It also benefits from colleagues in other specialist areas, such as employment and dispute resolution, dividing their time between offices so Chatham can provide wide-ranging legal services and support to businesses of all shapes and sizes.
Susan, 35, of Whitstable, comments: “Like any business it has been exciting as well as challenging to set up a new office but we strive to be different from other law firms by offering specialist expertise in a commercially sensible way without the London price tag. Clients can often outgrow their family solicitor and need the level of skills that Furley Page can provide under one roof.”
Although the original thinking behind the November 07 launch was to focus on business clients, she says the team has found an increasing demand for private client services - from people moving home to needing advice on wills, tax-planning and family law issues.
Looking to the future she adds: “After a period of laying foundations we have grown, and will continue to grow, the team to meet the demands of individuals and businesses in Medway and its surrounding areas. We are confident we can meet the inevitable future challenges head on.”
