Furley Page celebrates excellent results

01 November 2011

Dispute resolution team’s client service is ‘phenomenal’

Law firm Furley Page is celebrating an excellent set of results in the annual rankings published by the UK’s independent national legal guides, Chambers UK and The Legal 500.

Chambers UK has strong praise for the dispute resolution team, which has improved its ranking from band three to band two. The guide highlights the team’s ‘expertise in a broad range of disputes including contractual, IP, professional negligence and construction-related matters’.

The team’s client service is ‘beyond reproach – phenomenal’, while team leader, senior partner Peter Hawkes, is ‘highly praised by clients for his ability to handle high-pressure disputes’.

The employment team is also highly rated, with department head Andrew Masters and Amanda Okill listed as experts in their field. Andrew now receives the top personal ranking (up from band two to band one), and is described as ‘hugely competent’ and a ‘good communicator’, while Amanda is praised for her strength in discrimination matters.

For the second year running, Chambers UK rates the firm’s personal injury team, citing department head Michael Longmore and industrial diseases specialist Neille Ryan, both partners, as ‘leaders in their field’. Michael ‘leaves no stone unturned in getting the best results’ while Neille displays an ‘exceptional and exemplary professional service’.

Furley Page’s real estate and real estate litigation teams are also ranked, with the real estate team praised for its ‘value for money’ practice and expertise. The real estate litigation team, led by David Hall, is ‘tenacious and willing to suggest new ways of trying to solve a problem’.

The Legal 500 ranks Furley Page in 13 practice areas – most notably in private client (personal tax, trusts and probate), property litigation, personal injury, employment, charities and agriculture and estates.

Lawyers who are singled out for special praise include partner and head of corporate Susan Jennings and corporate solicitor Anthony Chester. Susan is described as a ‘first rate’ lawyer, who ‘works hard to get the job done’, while Anthony is also recommended.

Within property litigation, The Legal 500 singles out Furley Page’s recent work on behalf of new client United Trust Bank in a right of way claim. Team leader David Hall is praised for his ‘excellent knowledge and attention to detail’.

Commenting on the rankings, Peter Hawkes said: “Our strategy to maintain and develop the strength of our teams during the current difficult economic climate is reflected and endorsed by these very strong results. In a highly competitive market we know clients really appreciate the quality of our service and it’s rewarding for this to be recognised by these guides.”
