Furley Page Sponsors Canterbury RFC Home Game

21 February 2007

As part of its ongoing support for Canterbury Rugby Club, leading south east law firm Furley Page is sponsoring the club’s first home game of 2007 on January 6. Kick off for the match against Havant is 2.15pm.

Newly promoted to National Division 3 (South), Canterbury is now playing at its highest level in its 77 year history and has become the first east Kent club to achieve national status. The club also holds the Kent County Cup, having won the trophy for the past two seasons.

The club’s links with Furley Page were forged when the firm’s partnership secretary David Hall was the club’s honorary secretary for seven years.

Canterbury Rugby Club chairman Giles Hinton said: “We are delighted that a successful company, with whom we have strong personal links through David Hall, is giving us its support. We, like Furley Page, see ourselves playing a leading role in a thriving local community.”

Peter Hawkes, senior partner at Furley Page, commented: “Furley Page has a dedicated community sponsorship programme which enables us to support the arts, sport and other worthwhile projects. Our relationship with Canterbury Rugby Club has been strong for many years and we are pleased to play a role in its success in every way we can.”

Other recent community projects undertaken by Furley Page include sponsorship of a new law prize in the 2006 prestigious UK Erasmus (European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) Awards; free lunchtime concerts at the Gulbenkian Theatre, University of Kent in Canterbury; the First X1 hockey team at Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys, Canterbury; the East Kent Hospice Golf Championship and the Kent Messenger Walking Bus Charity.
