Insolvency solicitor joins Furley Page

12 January 2012

Appointment strengthens team in key sector

A talented young solicitor has joined top law firm Furley Page as part of its highly-regarded insolvency and debt recovery team, underlining its reputation as one of the region’s leading experts in what is a highly specialised field.

As the latest addition to the rapidly-expanding insolvency and debt recovery team, which is based at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, solicitor Steven Keenan will support team leader Richard Ludlow in helping to expand Furley Page’s work in this area.

He will advise clients across Kent, the South East and London on a range of issues concerning insolvency, debt recovery and also dispute resolution.

Steven, aged 28, has joined Furley Page from a West London law firm where he was involved in various litigious matters, including acting for companies and individuals in recovering large scale debts and also dealing with a number of contentious insolvency-related disputes.

He said: “I have experience in advising individuals and companies on issues relating to debt recovery and corporate and personal insolvency. I have regularly advised on the recovery of high value debts and also on a number of insolvency-related issues.

“I have advocacy experience in representing clients at both County Court level and in dealing with Registrars at Bankruptcy and Companies Courts, located within the High Courts of Justice.”

Born and educated in Northern Ireland, Steven is also a member of the Law Society of Northern Ireland.

Richard Ludlow, head of Furley Page’s insolvency and debt recovery team, said the appointment of such a talented solicitor as his number two sent out a clear message that the firm was now a force to be reckoned with in London and the South East. Furley Page’s insolvency and debt recovery team is recommended by the independent legal directory, The Legal 500.

“Steven is pro-active and strongly believes in keeping clients up to date with developments as they occur throughout their case. He explains technically complex matters in a straightforward way which is great for our clients,” added Richard.

Steven lives in Whitstable and enjoys playing golf and football, having represented Northern Ireland at both youth level and senior amateur level.

He completed his undergraduate and masters degrees at Queen’s University in Belfast and undertook his Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School.
