Law Firm Furley Page Increases Its Recognition In National Guide

18 November 2009

Law firm Furley Page is celebrating an excellent set of results which show increased rankings and number of expert lawyers in the independent national legal guide Chambers UK.

For the first time, the guide released this month rates the leading South East law firm’s property dispute resolution team headed by David Hall and its commercial property team led by Andrew Gough saying ‘Furley Page delights clients with its proactive, flexible and helpful service’.

The status of its employment team has risen with Chambers UK saying ‘clients praise its work’ and ‘appreciate that the lawyers get involved at every stage and provide a high level of support’. In addition, the team now has two expert lawyers listed in this field – Andrew Masters, head of the department, and Amanda Okill who appears for the first time. Of Andrew the guide says he ‘provides considered advice, listens carefully to the issues at hand and asks probing questions’; while Amanda is praised for being aware of the risks faced by businesses and providing advice in a ‘timely, friendly and courteous manner’.

Among other notable practitioners, senior partner Peter Hawkes, who heads the dispute resolution team, is listed with Chambers UK saying: “He has a solid client base in the region and a breadth of expertise that spans a range of areas.”

For the second year running, Furley Page’s debt recovery team, led by Martin Kingman, is commended and described as having ‘a formidable reputation and has forged an excellent name for itself’.

Another recent guide, The Legal 500, mentions Furley Page in 13 practice areas – notably in personal tax, trusts and probate, agriculture, charities, family law and property litigation. David Hall receives a personal mention for his specialist areas advising on landlord and tenant claims, and contaminated land matters.

Peter Hawkes said: “These are strong results in a competitive market which endorse Furley Page’s strategy to maintain the strength of its teams during the current economic climate. We have even expanded our operations in Thames Gateway and opened new offices at Lloyds of London. We know clients appreciate the quality of our service and it’s rewarding for this to be recognised by these guides.”
