Local Law Firm Offers Sound Advice

04 February 2004

Leading commercial law firm Furley Page is warning Kent businesses that recent legislation means they now face vast fines and prison sentences if they do not comply. All businesses need to be aware of the Enterprise Act 2003 that has brought in important changes to the regulation of competition.
Furley Page Solicitors is running a series of workshops in conjunction with Ashford Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Enterprise, aimed at providing local businesses with a practical knowledge of business law. The first one, on Thursday, 19th February at 2.00pm, will cover the controversial subject of competition law.
Peter Hawkes, Senior Partner at Furley Page, who practices exclusively in commercial work, said: “With the Enterprise Act introduced in 2003, companies now face severe penalties for non-compliance. These workshops will provide practical tips on how to protect your business and how to use the law to gain competitive advantage.”
The workshops cost £30 per person and will be held at the Ashford Chamber conference facilities at Ashford Business Point, Waterbrook Avenue, Sevington. Each workshop will run from 2pm to 5pm and include a question and answer session after refreshments.
Other workshops in the Practical Business Law series include: Reading the Small Print, on 25th March and Data Protection – What it means for your business, on 29th April.
