Small Window of Opportunity for Relatives of Deceased

27 January 2003

The Government is allowing relatives of deceased miners who suffered from Vibration White Finger to make claims for compensation. However, they have only extended the deadline for these claimants of former Kent Miners suffering from Vibration White Finger until 31 January 2003.

Following recent developments with the miners Vibration White Finger compensation scheme which have now opened up the possibility of claims being brought by relatives of deceased miners, Neille Ryan, Partner, with Canterbury firm Furley Page Solicitors is urging all possible claimants to come forward now.

He said: "If the miner worked in the coal mining industry for 12 months after 1 January 1975 and the family recall him suffering from whitening, tingling or numbness of the fingers then Furley Page Solicitors urge them to think about claiming. "However, you must act quickly as there is a very tight deadline for these claims of 31 January 2003, the end of this month."

If you want some advice about claiming contact Furley Page Solicitors who represent 1000’s of Kent miners on their free phone number 0800 731 0358.

Neille added: "A short claim form has to be completed and details must reach British Coal by 31 January. So if Furley Page Solicitors is to meet this deadline you must contact Furley Page by Tuesday 28 January 2003 at the very latest. "After 31 January 2003 the scheme will be closed and no new claims can be submitted, however good your excuse!"
