06 November 2003
The world famous Brodsky Quartet and the University of Kent is continuing its partnership, thanks to the continued sponsorship of Furley Page Solicitors, and will be returning to Canterbury for an evening concert on Wednesday 26 November 2003.
Established in 1972 the Brodsky Quartet, with their dynamic standing performance style, will be performing at the University of Kent’s Gulbenkian Theatre in November, with a return to the theatre in April next year.
Furley Page’s sponsorship of the string quartet, which has collaborated with artists such as Bjork and Elvis Costello, means that the Quartet can return to the city to perform classic masterpieces that include quartets by Beethoven, Schubert and Mozart.
Commenting on the forthcoming event Susan Wanless, Director of Music at the University of Kent said: “It is wonderful that the Brodskys so enjoy playing to Canterbury audiences and that, thanks to Furley Page’s sponsorship, we can invite them to perform again this year.”
In addition to the sponsorship of the Quartet, Furley Page will also be supporting a number of free lunchtime concerts that are taking place on Mondays between October and March next year.
Peter Hawkes, Senior Partner for Furley Page Solicitors said: “It is fantastic that the University can again attract such world-class musicians and we are happy to support the concerts, which we hope everyone will enjoy”.
The Brodsky Quartet, presented with the Royal Philharmonic Society Award in 1998 for an outstanding contribution to the world of music, will also be performing on Wednesday 28 April 2004. To find out more about the Quartet, other events and ticket prices visit www.kent.ac.uk/music.
