Areas of specialism

Private client work for clients owning assets in France, including advice on the purchase, sale and holding of French property, and the tax implications of such transactions. Tax and estate planning advice on assets owned in France. Personal tax advice.

Career

Florence is a tax adviser in private client work. She works closely with Sarah Bogard whose team (the French Property and Estates Team) she joined in May 2010.

Florence used to be a French Avocat in Lille (Northern France) where she worked for one of the French leading Corporate Law firms, closely involved in international matters.

After she moved across the Channel, Florence took the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test and more recently qualified as a UK tax adviser (Association of Taxation Technicians).

Florence’s in-depth knowledge of the French tax system enables her to advise on the tax implications of buying, selling and holding property in France (personal tax, capital gains tax). She also assists clients who move to France or to the UK with any personal tax matters arising as a result. She liaises directly with both the French tax authorities and HMRC and can assist in the filing of personal tax returns.

Florence can also advise clients in relation to French Wills and the inheritance tax implications of inheriting or the giving of French property or assets.

Testimonials

“…provided a prompt, professional and polite service.  Your Solicitors were knowledgeable and were able to assist us through the process of purchasing our property in France. Florence Richards was particularly helpful with above.”

Mr & Mrs M - Client of Florence Richards

Madame Richards was at all time concise, comprehensive and patient with all her advice.  She was always willing to take time to ensure we understood both the basic facts and the implications of every point. Because of the comprehensive nature of the advice and that so much time was given over to ‘next steps’ we were able to project manage all steps in the purchase with ease.  Of all the advice we received and paid for during the purchase process, this was without doubt the best value.
