Commercial Property.
Liz Brady joined Furley Page in September 2008 and became a partner in May 2011.
Having originally attended a Grammar School in Kent, Liz returned to the area to live and work after fifteen years gaining valuable knowledge and experience working for a major London law firm, renowned for commercial property.
Advising on a wide range of commercial property transactions, Liz has dealt with property development, acquisition and disposal of investment portfolios and with commercial leasehold documentation for landlords and tenants. Liz has practised exclusively in commercial property work throughout her career.
Liz has acted for a variety of clients including, for example, large quoted property investment companies, retailers, development companies, construction companies, investment trusts, individual businesses and investors in relation to retail, industrial, office premises and land.
Currently, Liz acts for a number of substantial clients and has an impressive and loyal client base that includes international companies, Kent retail chains, development companies, smaller enterprises, charities, schools, higher and further education establishments and a local authority.
Liz writes articles on commercial property issues for legal texts and has written for a Law Society text book. On request from the Commissioning Editor of Law Society Publishing, Liz reviews and gives her opinion on proposed new legal texts. Also, Liz gives presentations on commercial property issues.
Liz is an active member of the Care Sector team within Furley Page. Liz has acted for owners in the sale of their care homes and can advise on property related matters for care providers.
With extensive experience in property legal know-how and the training requirements of lawyers, Liz was for about 10 years actively involved in exams for qualification to become a solicitor. Until giving up recently, Liz was initially an external examiner for the solicitor’s qualifying exam (LPC) and latterly an external examiner for the exam for lawyers transferring from other jurisdictions or disciplines to become solicitors (QLTT). Liz covered the property and commercial property papers at BPP Law School in London and checked and moderated papers, having the responsibility for setting the final marks of candidates. Taking this interest further, Liz is one of the mentors for trainee solicitors at Furley Page.
