Career

Russell Wright joined the firm in January 2001 following a highly distinguished career in Western Australia where he was Solicitor and Barrister. Originally from Britain and a qualified English Lawyer, Russell was a Partner in the major projects division for Freehills, a national firm of solicitors. Russell has substantial legal commercial experience ranging from leading major projects for Western Australian Government, banking and finance, insolvency and commercial property.

Russell's areas of commercial specialism include: transactional and advisory corporate commercial work; company acquisitions, disposals, mergers and management buyouts; shareholders agreements and joint venturing and corporate finance; advising on complex commercial contracts and commercial property transactions for developers and investors; and advising lenders and borrowers in relation to the provision and perfection of security for loans and for the performance of secured obligations.

Since joining Furley Page, Russell has advised on a number of very large transactions for significant corporate and commercial clients including: the acquisition of all the shares in a company manufacturing landscaping products from the management buy out owners that included a venture capitalist, the disposal of the shares in a company manufacturing building products to a UK plc, negotiating and documenting the sale of a 50 acre brownfield building site to a UK plc developer and negotiating the agreements for a number of significant waste management projects.
