Career

Sarah Bogard is an Associate Senior Solicitor who specialises in private client work, tax advice and matters relating to owning property in France. She is also a Chartered Tax Adviser and member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. She joined the practice in October 2006, having previously worked in another leading South East law firm.
 

Sarah advises on all aspects of Will drafting, from straightforward Wills to more involved ones to cater, for example, for complex family scenarios. She also advises clients on estate planning, including making efficient use of inheritance tax reliefs.

Her work relating to trusts includes advice on the benefits of using a trust structure for estate planning, their tax treatment, and winding them up.

Sarah’s tax specialism lies with inheritance tax and capital gains tax.

Sarah regularly gives seminars on topics such as the aspects of making a Will and the impact of new legislation affecting personal taxes.

She enjoys working with clients who are embarking on the purchase of a property in France. Her French language skills enable her to take away the strain of dealing with a foreign language and documents, guiding clients through the purchase process. She reports on all the stages and liaises with the French estate agent and Notaire on the clients’ behalf. Sarah can also help clients decide on the best way of owning their new property, taking into consideration the complex rules of succession and inheritance tax in France. She can also assist with the administration of an estate comprising French property.
