Data protection laws exist to strike a balance the rights of the individual or employee to privacy between the rights of business to be able to use data legitimately in carrying out their work.

Any business that processes or stores personal data about individuals or employees is required to comply with the Data Protection Act. Data Protection is a therefore a serious issue for almost every business.
