Aldington Point-to-Point rescheduled for Sunday 6 May

13th April 2018

Dust off your picnic hamper, don your best wellies and head to Aldington on Sunday 6 May to enjoy one of Kent's best seasonal attractions, the Aldington point-to-point.

Having been rained-off on Easter Monday, Kent's point-to-point season will get back on track in a few weeks' time, with the thrilling six-race event set to attract large crowds and some of Kent's best amateur jockeys.

Aldington Races has been running for nearly 60 years. The event is jointly sponsored by leading south east law firm Furley Page and Strutt & Parker, a leading national property firm.

The popular point-to-point event, which is held in beautiful countryside near Ashford, promises a superb day out for the whole family. In addition to the six races, there are fun fairs with inflatables, events including terrier racing, a falconry display and a tug o'war, and plenty of food, drink and craft stalls to keep visitors entertained.

Jeremy Licence, Managing Partner at Furley Page, said: "It was a great shame that the traditional Easter Monday races had to be abandoned due to the weather, but we are delighted that the event has now been rescheduled. Point-to-point racing offers a fantastic spectacle and the Aldington Races have delighted families from across Kent for nearly 60 years, and Furley Page is thrilled to sponsor the event for the third year running."

Strutt & Parker Senior Director, Edward Church, said: "Strutt & Parker has been working in the rural community for more than 133 years so we are pleased to continue our sponsorship of the Aldington Races. This fun, informal event is a great way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon in the countryside where people come together to watch this exciting sport and socialise."

A point-to-point is a form of horseracing over fences for hunting horses and amateur riders. There is no dress code so visitors should wear whatever is appropriate for the weather.

Aldington Races will take place on Sunday, 6 May 2018. Gates open at 10am with the first race at 2pm and the last at 4.55pm. Tickets cost £15 each and under-14s are free. This year discounted tickets can be booked online for £12 via the following link
