Contact the Elderly, Summer Tea Party 2017

11th July 2017

Children host tea party for the elderly

Tea and chat was on the menu at an afternoon party for the elderly arranged by law firm Furley Page and hosted by Herne Junior School.

Val Prosser, from Furley Page’s Elderly and Vulnerable Client Team, is co-ordinator for the Herne Bay, Whitstable and Canterbury group of the charity Contact the Elderly and was invited to hold an afternoon tea for members at the school on Sunday July 2.

Pupils from Herne Junior School provided musical entertainment and gave a small gift to each of the elderly guests.

Contact the Elderly is a national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people.

Val says: “People attending these groups have an opportunity to make fulfilling and lengthy friendships. It was a lovely afternoon and we’re really grateful to Herne Junior School for making us so welcome.”

The tea party was also attended by other lawyers from Furley Page, parishioners from St Martin’s Church and St Martin’s Church Tea and Chat Group.
