22nd May 2014

Promotion for “best of the best” George Crofton-Martin

A lawyer who began his career as a trainee with top south east law firm Furley Page nine years ago has been appointed as a new partner. George Crofton-Martin is promoted from senior solicitor to a partner in the firm’s highly-regarded dispute resolution team.

George, aged 34, joined Furley Page in 2005. He specialises in commercial dispute resolution, general commercial and contractual disputes, professional negligence and construction litigation.

Furley Page’s dispute resolution team is recommended for its expertise by Chambers UK and The Legal 500. The latest Chambers UK rankings say the team continues to be a significant force in the Kent market, while George Crofton-Martin is described as “very engaged, and always goes the extra mile. He’s very client-centred and works hard.”

Senior Partner and Head of Dispute Resolution Peter Hawkes said: “This promotion reflects the strong contribution George has made to the development of our dispute resolution team and his involvement at partnership level will be a valuable asset for us in the future.”

Reflecting on George’s rapid rise within Furley Page, Peter added: “We take great pride in the level of training and experience we can provide, seeking to offer the best to the best. By choosing to employ the pick of the bunch we ensure we retain the brightest talent for the benefit of our clients.

“George is part of a team made up of highly-experienced specialists in dispute resolution. Disputes are a common part of business life; they are problems but they can be successfully solved in an efficient and cost effective way with the right approach.

“Our aim is to give clients practical advice. We make it our job to understand their business and agree the objectives to be achieved. We provide clear advice on all the options and we view litigation as a last resort, not an inevitable outcome. We support clients in negotiations and advise on more structured approaches such as mediation or arbitration.”

George provides comprehensive, practical advice in straightforward language. A strong commercial focus, coupled with his pro-active legal approach, means George is able to explore, quickly and cost effectively, the available options to secure the best practical solution without necessarily having recourse to litigation.
