7th October 2013

A highly regarded dispute resolution expert has been appointed as a senior associate by leading south east law firm Furley Page.

Jeremy Ferris has wide ranging experience of many aspects of litigation, including contested trust and probate actions, and he advises clients on claims arising out of Wills or Intestacy. That includes challenges to the capacity of the testator, undue influence having been exerted on the testator, forged wills, removal of executors and disputes as to the meaning of provisions in wills.

He also has a strong interest in disputes arising out of property given that he was a qualified chartered surveyor in government and private practice for eight years before retraining as a solicitor.

He has joined Furley Page’s market-leading dispute resolution team from a large south east law firm, where he was recognised by the latest Chambers UK and The Legal 500 guides for his expertise in dispute resolution.

The 46-year-old married father-of-two is regularly involved in actions for repossession, rent review disputes, breaches of covenant, dilapidation claims, actions for rent and service charge recovery, advice in respect of lease renewals, requests to sub-let or assign, for changes of user, and consent to alterations.

He also advises on nuisance issues, disputes arising over easements, freehold covenants, construction and engineering disputes and other general contentious property matters.

Jeremy has experience of handling professional negligence claims against solicitors, accountants and others. He has recent and ongoing instructions in the High Court and County Court as well as at the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).

Peter Hawkes, Senior Partner and Head of the much-acclaimed Dispute Resolution team at Furley Page, said: “I’m confident Jeremy will prove a great asset to the firm and his skills and expertise will ensure that the dispute resolution team continues to go from strength to strength.

“Jeremy’s experience in the area of disputed wills is second to none, while his background as a chartered surveyor makes him one of the foremost experts in resolving property disputes. Our clients are sure to benefit greatly from Jeremy’s skills in these areas.”
