Kent law firm Furley Page is celebrating an outstanding set of results in the annual rankings published by the UK’s independent national legal guide, Chambers UK.
Furley Page’s dispute resolution team continues to be a force in the Kent market. Team leader and senior partner Peter Hawkes, who is personally ranked at the highest level, is praised for his ‘sound advice’, ‘calm approach’ and strong technical and client-handling skills. Peers say he is ‘extremely well-respected and has a good following’, and ‘always impresses with his incisive analysis and structured approach’.
The team’s senior solicitor George Crofton-Martin is described as ‘very engaged, and always goes the extra mile. He’s very client-centred and works hard’. Senior associate Jeremy Ferris, who is personally ranked by Chambers UK, joined the Furley Page dispute resolution team in August 2013.
There’s high praise for the corporate team’s commercial awareness. ‘They have that big-picture awareness, and always maintain attention to detail’ is one comment. Partner and team leader Susan Jennings, who is personally ranked, is described as someone who clients particularly enjoy working with. One remarked ‘she is our trusted adviser. She is commercial and pragmatic, and always gets the job done’.
Furley Page’s employment team ‘provides commercially sensible advice’ and is singled out for its work in the education sector. Team leader and partner Andrew Masters, personally ranked at band one, is classed as ‘first-rate’ by sources. ‘He is easy to approach and accessible, and speaks in plain English’. Senior solicitor Amanda Okill is a trustee of a national mental health charity, adding to her expertise in regulatory and safeguarding issues.
The real estate team is said to have provided ‘a very good’ level of service, and has developed ‘a good reputation in East Kent and a good client base’. Partner Jeremy Licence, who is personally ranked, heads the department. Clients say ‘his advice and knowledge have always been first-class and we totally rely on him. His negotiating skills and experience have led to some very successful transactions’.
Furley Page’s personal injury team – a consistently strong performer in the Chambers UK rankings in recent years – continues to excel. The team is rated at the highest level as ‘extremely well organised; they clearly feed off each other and are efficient with their systems’.
Partner Neille Ryan, an industrial diseases specialist who is noted for his professionalism and client care, is also top ranked for the first time. He is said to be ‘extremely friendly and very good at ensuring that I had all the relevant facts’.
