Furley Page continues support of historic East Kent Ploughing Match

29th August 2019

Visitors to the East Kent Ploughing Match will once again have the chance to hone their shooting skills as Furley Page’s popular laser clay competition returns to the event.

Now in its 75th year, the East Kent Ploughing Match will be held on Wednesday 25 September 2019 at West Court Farm in Shepherdswell, near Dover.

A mainstay of the rural social scene, the event attracts up to 5,000 visitors each year and sees contestants compete in a series of tough ploughing trials, using a range of modern, vintage and horse drawn ploughs.

Leading south east law firm Furley Page will be exhibiting at the 75th East Kent Ploughing Match, and guests to the firm’s marquee have a chance to enter its Laser Clay Shooting competition. A range of refreshments will be served throughout the day, all sourced locally from food and drink producers in Kent.

Senior Associate Deborah Geering, from Furley Page, has been involved with the event for the past six years. Deborah said: “The East Kent Ploughing Match is a wonderful spectacle and one of the most popular rural events of the year.

“Given the importance of our rural and agricultural clients to the firm, the event always provides a fantastic opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances and make new contacts, and our team is looking forward to attending the event again this year.

“Following the success of previous years, we are delighted to offer our guests a chance to enter our Laser Clay Shooting competition, which I’m sure will once again be hotly contested!”

In addition to the popular ploughing contests, visitors will be able to explore over 100 trade stands, look at classic tractors and engines, and enjoy a range of attractions including a birds of prey demonstration, terrier racing, have-a-go archery and the traditional ‘Tossing the Sheaf’ contest.

Furley Page’s expertise in Agriculture and Rural Business is recommended by The Legal 500 while its specialist team is also regarded as a recognised practitioner by Chambers UK, which are both independent guides to the legal profession.
