Furley Page guests get chance to meet birds of prey at East Kent Ploughing Match

29th August 2017

A birds of prey flying display and ‘have a go’ archery will be just some of the attractions at the 73rd annual East Kent Ploughing Match to be held on Wednesday 27 September 2017 at Quex Park, Manston Road, Birchington.

Following a successful partnership last year, Furley Page Solicitors has once again teamed up with The Hawking Centre from Doddington Place Gardens for the event, which regularly attracts more than 4,000 visitors each year.

Senior Associate Ethan Desai from Furley Page’s Agriculture and Rural Business Team said: “The East Kent Ploughing Match is a great opportunity for the rural community to get together and we are looking forward to seeing clients old and new at Quex Park. From 9am onwards we will have hot drinks and Danish pastries at our stand, followed by a local cheese buffet and drinks at lunchtime.”

“Guests will get the chance to see birds of prey up close during The Hawking Centre’s visits to our marquee, while there will also be the chance for people to have a go at archery and take part in our laser clay shooting competition,” adds Ethan.

Visitors will be able to explore over 100 trade stands, enjoy a range of lunch and light refreshment options, take a look at classic tractors and engines, and watch the traditional Tossing the Sheaf contest. The ploughing competitions will be as keenly contested as ever, featuring the latest tractors and ploughs plus vintage and horse-drawn ploughs.

Ethan says: “The East Kent Ploughing Match remains a highlight of the region’s agricultural scene, just as it has been for many decades. It is enjoyed by adults and children alike and we’re delighted to be involved again.

“We’re also pleased that The Hawking Centre is returning to our marquee with their excellent demonstrations. As all of those who have already seen them at other events will know, their displays are thrilling to watch.
