Furley Page sponsors inaugural Kent Charity Awards

3rd July 2014

Leading law firm Furley Page is sponsoring the first-ever Kent Charity Awards designed to herald the work of charities large and small – as the organisers reveal that entries are “flying in”.

“When we heard about the idea to launch the Kent Charity Awards we didn’t need any persuading to sign up as a sponsor,” said Partner Aaron Spencer, who specialises in charity law and is a member of the Charity Law Association.

“Indeed it made perfect sense for us to do our bit to support the awards because of the incredibly close ties linking our law firm to the charity sector in the county.

“We have worked with a range of charities across Kent and the South East for many years and we have a tremendous insight into how they work and what they do. Charities are the unsung heroes of society because their work often brings far-reaching positive benefits for so many people in our communities.

“We warmly welcome the launch of these awards and we look forward to playing a full part in helping to make them a big success,” added Aaron.

The awards are open to organisations of all sizes, whether it’s the Kent branch of a national charity or a small community-based group. The awards are free to enter, with the 12 finalists being chosen to attend a gala awards event in March 2015. Furley Page is among a number of major Kent companies sponsoring the awards.

A spokeswoman for the organisers said: “The aim of these awards is to showcase the hard work and perseverance that charities and voluntary groups undertake to make the lives of others better. We have been delighted with the response from charities, with entries flying in so far.”

To enter fill in the entry form at  www.kentcharityawards.com

Other sponsors are Kent County Council, Reeves Accountants, Medway Council, MidKent College, Southern Water, Diggerland, Kent Reliance and the KM Group.

Furley Page provides a range of specialist services to charities, including on the formation of charities, Charity Commission applications and annual returns, advice on structures such as Charitable Incorporated Organisations, charitable companies, charitable trusts, unincorporated associations and Community Interest Trusts.
