Intrepid fund-raiser Natasha sets her sights high

19th August 2015

A Kent lawyer dedicated to raising money for charity will be attempting the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge next month in aid of the Hand in Hand Foundation Worldwide.

Natasha Biggs, who is a trustee of the Foundation, will be taking on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m), which form part of the Pennine range, and hopes to complete the 25-mile hike within just 12 hours.

So far Natasha and fellow fund-raisers from the charity have secured more than £500 in sponsorship but are hoping to raise a lot more by the time they have completed the challenge on September 5.

All money raised will go towards the projects and work supported by the Hand in Hand Foundation Worldwide, a charity which aims to relieve poverty, suffering and distress among people across the globe and promote Christian education and evangelism.

“I joined the Hand in Hand Foundation Worldwide as a trustee because I wanted to make a difference in today’s world and help in a tangible way,” says Natasha, who is a member of law firm Furley Page’s insolvency and debt recovery team based at Chatham’s Historic Dockyard.

“The charity doesn’t just help Christian causes but aims to support people in the community. We are currently concentrating on Zimbabwe and have been helping various schools and orphanages with material needs, buildings and food,” she adds.

“We’re also helping students to pay for their school fees, the building of ablutions, and supporting goat and chicken projects to promote sustainability. We are also planning to fund the drilling of boreholes to help supply water.”

Natasha has had a life-long interest in supporting charity work, taking part in and organising numerous fund-raising events as well as sponsoring a child in Kenya and visiting refugee camps in Azerbaijan. She also regularly takes part in the many fund-raising events organised each year by Furley Page.
