Jeremy Ferris is highly regarded both in the fields of property disputes and contested Wills and trusts.
Jeremy was a qualified chartered surveyor in government and private practice for eight years before retraining as a solicitor. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and also the Property Litigation Association
Since joining Furley Page’s market-leading Dispute Resolution Team his expertise has been recognised by both Chambers UK and The Legal 500, top independent national guides to excellence in the legal sector.
The team is praised by Chambers UK for its experience in resolving disputes involving landlords and tenants, rights of way and boundary issues. The guide says clients describe Jeremy as “a reliable, sound and knowledgeable lawyer who is very considered in his approach and quite unflustered by complex cases.”
He is regularly involved in actions for repossession, rent review disputes, breaches of covenant, dilapidation claims, actions for rent and service charge recovery, advice regarding lease renewals, requests to sub-let or assign, for changes of user, and consent to alterations.
Jeremy also advises on nuisance issues, disputes arising over easements, freehold covenants, construction and engineering disputes and other general contentious property matters.
The 47-year-old married father-of-two has wide-ranging experience of many other aspects of litigation, including contested trust and probate actions arising out of Wills or Intestacy. That includes challenges to the capacity of the testator, undue influence having been exerted on the testator, forged Wills, removal of executors and disputes as to the meaning of provisions in Wills.
In addition to his core specialties of property disputes and disputed Wills and trusts, Jeremy’s broader experience extends to advice on a diverse portfolio of other contentious matters, including professional negligence claims against solicitors, accountants and others.
Peter Hawkes, Senior Partner and Head of the Dispute Resolution team at Furley Page, said: “Jeremy is an outstanding lawyer and he has proved to be a great asset to the firm. His skills and knowledge have helped to ensure that our business continues to go from strength to strength and his promotion to Partner is hugely deserved.
