Furley Page is an accredited member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). We support their efforts to persuade the Government to include a ban on cold calling in respect of personal injury claims, in the Financial Guidance and Claims Bill. This is currently going through Parliament.
Despite a ban being supported by Labour MPs, the Government constantly refuse to include a ban on cold calling, within the new legislation.
We are sure that most of you have received cold call approaches, either by email, text or phone call or even in person. They are intrusive; they are constant, harassing and very annoying.
The Government seem to be intent on avoiding this ban being included in this new legislation, despite a recent YouGov survey. This survey found that more that two thirds of people who responded to the survey, would support such a ban.
As Solicitors who specialise in personal injury claims, we are regulated. We would not make any cold call approach and it is against our rules to do so.
However, Claims Farmers are not governed by such rules and we cannot understand why the Government allows them to continue in this way. They harass innocent members of the public and also innocent victims of accidents. It is beyond our comprehension why this continues to be allowed despite a majority view against such calls.
We urge anyone who is injured in an accident, to use an accredited APIL firm of Solicitors.
Please do not be dragged in to making a claim by responding to such cold calls. A ban would stop this harassment. Victims of accidents can decide for themselves whether or not to claim and if they do choose to instruct reputable, specialist Solicitors to advise them.
