Career

Dan Sherlock is a Partner within the Dispute Resolution team.

He has over 25 years of dispute resolution experience with a particular focus on construction and commercial litigation.

Dan started his legal career by training and qualifying into a commercial litigation practice in Mayfair, London where he was regularly representing clients in the High Court before leaving for a family life outside the capital in Kent.

Dan successfully developed a client base nationwide and internationally over the following 20 years prior to joining the firm in 2023 to expand the team’s offering. The work he has undertaken in that period was broad but deliberately focussed towards commercial law with an increasing focus and interest in the construction sector.

Dan’s experience in the commercial dispute sector involves acting for clients on matters including breach of contract, pursuing damages for breach of warranty, dishonest appropriation of assets/confidential rights, trust claims and the obtaining of disclosure of documents from third parties. The need for a commercial justification for claims informs his strategic outlook and aims to focus giving prompt, clear and cost-effective solutions to support client business interests.

Dan’s experience in the construction sector includes pursuing adjudications, advising on operational risks, retention of title issues and more recently drafting of commercial contracts.

He has represented clients at all level of the English Courts including the Court of Appeal as well as claims in Arbitration and Adjudication.

Dan has been recognised for his work in construction law by the Legal 500 and has lectured on the topics of pre-contract negotiation tactics, construction contracts management and civil court rules.
