Law firm kicks of 300-year anniversary celebrations

Law firm kicks of 300-year anniversary celebrations with sponsorship of Furley Page Canterbury 10 Mile road race
Spectators flocked to Canterbury to watch runners from across the country compete in the popular Canterbury 10 Mile road race on Sunday 26 January 2025, which was sponsored by leading Kent law firm Furley Page for the first time this year.
Furley Page’s sponsorship is part of its plans for a year of celebratory and charitable events to mark the firm’s 300-year anniversary celebrations. Once again, Demelza Hospice Care for Children was the chosen charity for the race.
Organised by Invicta East Kent Athletics Club, the newly named Furley Page Canterbury 10 Mile is a long-standing race, run on quiet lanes to the south of Canterbury. One of the first road races of the year, it is always well-attended, with all 1,500 places selling out for the third year running.
Held on an undulating course through the beautiful backdrop of the Kent Downs that produces many personal bests, the race route starts at Spring Lane and takes in the surrounding areas of Canterbury, before heading out towards Bridge, through Patrixbourne and Bekesbourne and returning through the Barton Industrial Estate for a quick finish.
More than 1,250 runners finished the 10-mile course during dry but breezy conditions, with Cole Gibbens, representing Tonbridge AC, completing an impressive hat trick of wins, adding to his 2023 and 2024 triumphs with a time of 51 minutes 10 seconds. Meanwhile Rebecca Weston of Invicta East Kent AC took the ladies crown in 57 minutes 17 seconds.
Susan Jennings, Partner and Head of Corporate at Furley Page, is chair of the committee organising the firm’s 300-year anniversary celebrations. Susan said: “Furley Page is delighted to have been part of such a popular and long-standing community event. It was a great way to kick off our 300-year anniversary celebrations by supporting a fantastic sporting spectacle and helping to raise money for a very worthy local charity.
“The firm entered 11 runners, with the team comprising staff and clients, and we were delighted so many of our volunteers turned out to support, ensuring the event ran smoothly. Throughout the year, the firm and its staff will be supporting other similar events as part of our anniversary celebrations, including sponsorship of the Furley Page Whitstable 10K in May and the Chatham Maritime 10K in November.”
