University of Kent’s lunchtime concert series returns October 2022

The University of Kent’s Lunchtime Concert series resumes this October, offering an exciting and eclectic range of musical performances that are once again sponsored by Canterbury law firm Furley Page.

The autumn concert programme kicks off on Wednesday 19 October with ‘East Meets West’, a performance by London-based classical fusion violin and cello/guitar duo Laure Chan and William Jack, which will be followed by a collaborative student workshop discussing the musical ideas behind the theme of ‘East Meets West’.

On Wednesday 9 November, players from the Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra and Pit Perfect talent development scheme bring a programme of instrumental music followed by a workshop with the University String Sinfonia.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday 23 November leading British jazz pianist and composer Prof. Robert Mitchell presents a special illustrated recital. One of the most significant voices in British jazz – a pianist, keyboardist, composer, improviser, writer and poet – Robert’s performance features key figures from the history of left-hand-only piano in classical and jazz music.

The Autumn Lunchtime Concert Series rounds off on Wednesday 7 December with a performance by accomplished chamber musician and professional harpist, Harriet Adie. A founding member of the internationally recognized ensemble 4 Girls 4 Harps, whose music has been broadcast on Classic FM, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4, Harriet’s programme will celebrate the season with Christmas favourites such as Ding Dong Merrily On High, This Is The Truth Sent From Above, Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day and Silent Night.
