Furley Page is delighted to confirm that Keep Talking Services has been chosen by our staff, as our Charity of the Year for 2024.
Keep Talking Services is a telephone befriending service focusing on supporting the community in a bid to tackle loneliness.
The objective is simple – keep people talking.
The charity was founded by Alex Richardson, whilst studying Mental Health Nursing at Canterbury Christ Church University during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic students were unable to undertake placements, they were missing out on key practical learning and the people in the community relying on this support also suffered. Keep Talking Services was established to afford students with consistent practical experience and to support the community during a time when loneliness and isolation was at an all-time high.
2023 marked their first year as a registered charity. They facilitated 4000 phone calls to a wide range of individuals in our local community, from all walks of life, whether they are older and don’t have family support, or younger, overwhelmed and not knowing who to talk to.
The staff at Furley Page and the Furley Page Foundation look forward to working with Alex this year and hope that our fundraising efforts will help the charity continue with the important work they are doing to support our local community.
