Career

Nicola August is a Partner and heads the Vulnerable client team. Nicola joined Furley Page in January 2005 having worked for two large regional law firms. She has many years of experience in dealing with vulnerable client matters.

Nicola has been an Approved Panel Deputy of the Court of Protection for some years. She is the only Panel Deputy in East Kent and Medway and this is a reflection of her level of expertise in this highly specialised area of work.

Nicola August is an Accredited Lifetime Lawyer, one of the most qualified lawyers in the country for supporting vulnerable and older people with the right legal advice.

Nicola acts as a deputy for those who no longer have the necessary level of capacity to manage their financial affairs. Nicola might act where there are no close friends or relatives who are suitable or willing to act as a deputy; or where the issues are complex and a specialist should be appointed; or where there is family conflict or suggestions of financial abuse.

Nicola and her team can also advise and assist those who wish to apply to be the deputy for their loved one.

The Vulnerable client team, led by Nicola also specialises in advising on all types of powers of attorney and acts as a Certificate Provider in relation to lasting powers of attorney. The team will also advise on advance decisions (or living wills) and how they compare with a health and welfare LPA.

Nicola and her team have a particular interest in social care issues and advise on care fee funding , NHS continuing healthcare and all its complexities and navigating social services. Nicola and her team can advise you and guide you through the procedures and processes.

Nicola has a professional and friendly manner and is always understanding of her client’s needs. She enjoys having the opportunity to build a long lasting relationship with them.

The team can also advise you on how best to protect your assets for your loved ones and help draft your will to ensure your wishes are honoured.

Outside work Nicola August is co-chair of Kent Autistic Trust.
