Hannah heard about Furley Page during her studies at the University of Kent. She applied to the firm’s Summer Work Placement Scheme and went on to be offered a place on our Trainee Solicitor Programme.

In 2025, Hannah successfully qualified as a solicitor in the Personal Injury team at Furley Page.

We asked Hannah some questions about the experience to help graduates and trainees on their journey to qualifying.

How did the Furley Page training programme help you on your path to becoming a personal injury solicitor?

During my training contract with Furley Page, I gained experience across four areas of law, each presenting its own challenges and allowing me to develop important skills. Experiencing a range of practice areas helped me to identify what I was most interested in and what best suited my character. Ultimately, I chose to qualify into the Personal Injury Team because I find the work interesting, varied and rewarding.

What was the most memorable experience during your training contract?

During my seat in Personal Injury, I had the opportunity to attend two trials. As my previous seats had been in non-contentious practice areas, this was a new experience for me. Being involved in the trial preparation and then attending Court in person gave me an insight into both the procedural and strategic aspects of litigation and therefore provided invaluable experience.

How have Furley Page supported you in your first months as a newly qualified solicitor?

I was confident that I would be well-supported as a newly qualified solicitor at Furley Page, having been well-supported throughout my training contract. I now manage my own caseload, while being part of a team of experienced lawyers who are always available to provide guidance. In addition to working on my own cases, I work alongside partners on more complex, high-value matters, so I am continually provided with learning opportunities and supported in my development as a newly qualified solicitor.

What three words of advice would you give someone applying for a training contract?

Tailor your application!

It is really important that you demonstrate why you want to work at Furley Page specifically. By doing your research and showing a genuine interest in the firm, your application will stand out from any generic applications.

Why do you recommend applying to the Furley Page training contract?

Whilst Furley Page has a strong reputation as one of the leading firms in the region, they carefully consider trainee intake numbers so as to ensure that trainees receive a high level of guidance, supervision and development opportunities. Trainees work alongside experienced lawyers and partners on a wide variety of matters and are given responsibility and client contact from the outset. This experience provides an excellent foundation for anyone wishing to pursue a career as a solicitor.
