Good news for landlords and tenants as Government lifts restrictions on lettings
On the 13 May 2020 the Government lifted the restrictions on the housing market now allowing those who need to move house to do so, provided the Government’s guidance is followed.
This is great news for the lettings market as it can now get people moving again.
It may take a little time for the agents, removal firms and indeed landlords and tenants to get to grips with things but this is a really positive step forward in what has been a very bleak time for all concerned.
Parties must continue to observe the new Government guidance which is “stay alert, contain the virus and save lives” and so this will mean that all parties to lettings will have to adapt their procedures.
They may for example undertake virtual initial viewings, ensure that occupants vacate the property whilst viewings are being undertaking and ensuring a thorough clean of the property is carried out before a new occupant moves in.
The key concept is for all parties to remain flexible throughout the process.
