Furley Page Foundation provides record £7,500 donation to Canterbury Food Bank

The Furley Page Foundation has provided a significant donation of £7,500 to the Canterbury Food Bank to help the charity purchase food and essential supplies for people across the district this winter.

Each year, staff at law firm Furley Page raise money which is distributed to local charitable causes through the Furley Page Foundation to make a positive impact in the community. This year’s chosen charity, the Canterbury Food Bank, has received the largest single donation the Foundation has been able to make since it was established in 2015.

Susan Roberts, Accounts Manager at Canterbury Food Bank, said: “The ongoing cost-of-living crisis has seen our donations decline, while demand for emergency food parcels continues to grow. On behalf of the trustees, staff, volunteers, and our clients, I would like to thank The Furley Page Foundation and all the staff at Furley Page, for supporting Canterbury Food Bank over the past year and for the most wonderful and generous donation of £7,500 which is very much appreciated.”

Throughout the year, Furley Page staff have taken part in a range of fund-raising activities, including bake sales, competitions, sponsored endurance and sporting events, and a Murder Mystery, as well as providing generous donations and contributing directly to food deliveries.

In addition to Canterbury Food Bank, the Furley Page Foundation has also been able to support several other causes across Kent including the Friends of St Nicholas, Tankerton Football Club, Re-Engage (formerly Age Concern), Red Eagle Foundation, and Our Community Spirit.

The law firm’s fundraising activities are coordinated by the Furley Page Foundation, a charitable trust which manages Furley Page’s social responsibility programmes and works for the benefit of people across Kent. Each year the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, made up of Partners and elected staff representatives, decides how funds raised will be distributed and Furley Page staff nominate a primary charity which is supported by fund-raising activities.

Furley Page Partner, Aaron Spencer, who sits on the Furley Page Foundation’s Board, said: “Our staff are the driving force behind the Foundation’s charitable endeavours, and we are proud of all those who give up their time to raise money for worthy causes such as the Canterbury Food Bank. Canterbury Food Bank began as a community project developed by a group of local churches in 2011, registering as a charity in August 2013.

The Furley Page Foundation is a charitable incorporated organisation, Registered Charity number 1163007, which is responsible for managing all social responsibility programmes of Furley Page Solicitors. This includes fundraising for local good causes and charities. The Foundation has a Board of Trustees which is made up of a mix of Partners and elected staff representatives from within Furley Page. Funds are available for local good causes and charities. The distribution of those funds will be decided by the Trustees.
