Rural community celebrated at the East Kent Ploughing Match
October 8, 2026
Furley Page Solicitors was once again a proud sponsor and prominent participant at the 2026 East Kent Ploughing Match, held at St Nicholas Court Farms in Monkton.
The event, now in its 81st year, proved to be as popular as ever, with the great and good of the East Kent farming community joining thousands of other visitors.
In the fields competition was intense, with ploughing categories ranging from vintage tractors to the latest models. During the day there were a range of events in the main ring including birds of prey flying displays, dog handling, tossing the sheaf and the always popular welly throwing competition.
Furley Page’s Agricultural and Rural Business Team was in attendance to welcome friends, clients and contacts in their marquee.
Sarah Webster, Partner and Head of Agriculture and Rural Business at Furley Page, said: “The annual East Kent Ploughing Match is a highlight of Kent’s agricultural calendar and sponsoring it enables us to give something back to our rural community in Kent.
“Despite the rain, this year’s event was incredibly well attended, and it was great to see so many clients and contacts on the day, and to celebrate everything that makes the farming community so special.”
“Congratulations the winner of our laser clay shooting competition, Aaron Qixon, who won a bottle of Kent-produced Gusbourne sparkling wine. And to the lucky raffle winners, who helped to raise valuable funds for the Furley Page Foundation.”
This year father and son duo Matthew Cullen and Chris Cullen won Commercial Champion and Vintage Champion respectively. The 2026 ploughing match also saw the launch of new educational boards aimed at school attendees in a bid to integrate and engage younger visitors. The boards were displayed around the show grounds and incorporated fun and informative displays about farming, food production and countryside life.
As well as showcasing rural life, the East Kent Ploughing Match also uses money raised from ticket sales and donations to support a wide range of local charities.
