Ruth Dolan has worked in Financial Services industry since 1996. Qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner, she has been providing independent financial advice to clients of Furley Page since 2004, although she has been with the firm since 2000.
Chartered status is awarded to those members of the Chartered Insurance Institute that have completed the Advanced Diploma is Financial Planning and are able to demonstrate three years’ continual professional development and commit to continuing to maintain their knowledge and adherence to the CII’s Code of Ethics and Conduct. It means that individuals can be sure to receive an excellent level of service and have conviction in the professionalism and ethical credibility of the holder.
During her time at Furley Page, Ruth has built up in depth knowledge and understanding of various aspects of Private Client work which is valuable for clients requiring financial planning advice. Ruth is able to work well with professional colleagues when advising their clients. Clients may therefore be assured of a streamlined and comprehensive service when they come to the Furley Page team.
Ruth provides advice to new and existing clients and other professionals on a range of areas including taxation and investment planning, retirement planning, protection planning. Areas of specialisim include advising trustees on investments and advising the older and vulnerable client, particularly in relation to care fees planning which is a much needed area of advice for many individuals who find they must fund their own care costs.
Following completion of the STEP* Certificate for Financial Services in 2010, Ruth is now an affiliated member of STEP and well qualified to assist trustees in adhering to their duties of investments under the Trustee Act 2000. Combining investment planning and the practical aspects of administering trust investments, trustees receive a fully comprehensive plan when considering the investment of trust funds.
Ruth became an accredited Later Life Adviser after achieving membership of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA) in October 2010. SOLLA aims to assist consumers to find quality and trusted financial advisers involved in the older client market by promoting the benefits of working with financial advisers who have achieved the Later Life Adviser Accreditation.
The Later Life Adviser Accreditation [LLAA] has been developed by the Government standard-setting body the Financial Services Skills Council in collaboration with the specialist financial services consultancy SVARfair.
Ruth understands the needs and concerns of those older and vulnerable clients that find themselves in the position of needing to fund care costs and has developed a review service to assist individuals and their Attorneys or relatives to consider all the available options when looking at the issue of paying for care. Ruth also has strong links to other legal professionals within the firm who provide advice to clients on the legal aspects of the Mental Capacity Act, dealing with the affairs of the older and vulnerable client and securing a suitable care package.
Ruth is also part of the Furley Page Care Sector Team, providing seminars and talks to care providers and individuals on aspects in relation to funding care fees.
