Leading South East law firm Furley Page has virtually doubled the size of its Family law team with a number of new appointments. This bold move has been made to ensure the firm is able to meet the growing demand for specialist family legal services across all three of its offices.

The firm, with headquarters in Canterbury, as well as offices in Whitstable and at Chatham Dockyard, has made several key appointments recently, which have further strengthened its highly-regarded Family law team.

Solicitor Megan Bennie joined the firm early in 2021, with Associate Joanne McDonald following later that year. Josie Triffitt was added to the team on her qualification as a Solicitor with the firm in January 2022.

Having qualified in 2013, Associate Joanne McDonald has many years of experience advising clients going through relationship breakdown and divorce about their finances, as well as child related issues. Joanne also advises unmarried clients on pre-marriage and cohabitation agreements and in respect of related disputes. Joanne is based primarily at the firm’s Chatham Dockyard office but, as with all Furley Page Family lawyers, appointments can be arranged at any of the firm’s offices.

Solicitor Megan Bennie joined the team having gained a wealth of experience at a large city firm specialising in international family law. Megan advises on all aspects of family law, including before and after marriage issues, civil partnerships and complex child-related issues including adoption.

Josie Triffitt qualified as a solicitor with Furley Page having successfully completed her training contract with the firm. Josie advises on all aspects of family law and brings the team’s headcount up to seven specialist lawyers, with two Partners, three Associates and two Solicitors.

Rayma Collins, Partner and Head of the Family law team at Furley Page, said: “During the Covid-19 pandemic, we saw increasing demand for our family law services, particularly due to the stresses placed on families during lockdown.

“As a result of these additions, the expanded team can draw on wide-ranging experience in family law and divorce, offering a comprehensive range of family law services and specialist advice at the right level to meet every client’s needs and resources.

“This recruitment effort has ensured we can continue to offer clients in-person meetings across our three offices, as well as virtual and telephone consultations to fit with our client’s needs”.

Furley Page’s Family law team is recognised by independent legal guides, The Legal 500 and Chambers UK, which rank law firms based on feedback from clients and professionals with whom they have worked. The majority of the lawyers in the team have also been personally recommended for their expertise.

Every lawyer in the team is a member of Resolution (an organisation promoting a collaborative approach to advising couples who are separating) and they adhere to Resolution’s Code of Practice, committing to a non-confrontational practice wherever possible.

In addition, Partners Rayma Collins and Naomi Hayward are specialists in collaborative family law, a pioneering legal process which enables separating couples to discuss and resolve their financial and child related issues together in a dignified non-confrontational way with the best interests of the family as a whole at the centre of the process.
