Lawyer gains internationally recognised accreditation in mediating disputes
January 25, 2022
Jeremy Ferris, a Partner with Furley Page solicitors’ highly-regarded Dispute Resolution team, has completed the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution’s (CEDR) training programme, gaining accreditation as a CEDR mediator.
CEDR is the leading provider of training in mediation, a recognised alternative means of resolving disputes which offers quick, flexible and cost-effective alternative to court proceedings. CEDR accreditation is internationally recognised as the standard of excellence for dispute resolution mediators.
George Crofton-Martin, Head of the Dispute Resolution team at Furley Page, said: “Partly in response to the challenges of Covid-19, the increasing digitalisation of some legal processes, and as a result of the backlog in the courts, the Government is increasingly keen for individuals and organisations to use alternative methods of dispute resolution, rather than resorting to litigation, so this accreditation is fantastic news for the firm and our clients.”
Jeremy joins an international community of mediators who have achieved accreditation via the CEDR’s rigorous Mediator Skills Training Course. The course provides training on a wide range of dispute resolution and mediation techniques, enabling practitioners to settle disputes more effectively, add value to commercial disputes, and manage the mediation process to facilitate positive outcomes for clients.
Jeremy Ferris added: “The firm has seen an increase in the volume of clients opting for alternative forms of dispute resolution, so my accreditation as a CEDR mediator will further strengthen our ability to resolve a wide range of disputes, including all manner of property disputes, and contested wills, trusts and probate.”
Furley Page’s Dispute Resolution team is made up of highly experienced dispute resolution specialists. The team is recommended by national independent legal guides, The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners for its expertise.
