Health and safety and regulatory law
Health and safety law is a real issue for businesses and employers as it imposes general duties on them to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of employees and people in the workplace.
A failure to discharge these duties is an offence and the penalties for non-compliance include potential fines and even possible imprisonment.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is responsible for enforcing health and safety legislation and is highly active in bringing enforcement action against those it believes have failed to safeguard employees and individuals from harm.
Specialist legal advice for health and safety procedures
- We advise and assist with the identification of risks, conducting and recording of risk assessments and on the provision of instruction, information and training.
- We can also review internal procedures and advise on the implementation of an overarching health and safety policy to help produce a culture of compliance and safe working practices.
- We also understand that there needs to be a balance because a business still has to function. By adopting a realistic and pragmatic approach we can help you achieve compliance with minimum interference to the day to day activities of your business.
Why choose Furley Page for health and safety law advice
Our specialist lawyers are members of the Health and Safety Lawyers Association and can provide advice and assistance to help you adopt safe systems of work and to help ensure a safe working environment.
At Furley Page, we recognise that it is not always possible to ensure compliance 100% of the time and are able to assist where standards may have fallen short of the mark.
We also advise in HSE investigations and in defending prosecutions, interviews under caution (PACE interviews), improvement and prohibition notices and reporting incidents under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR Reports).
Furley Page possesses a proven track record in defending prosecutions brought by the Health & Safety Executive.
