The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has announced that refunds can be claimed for any Enduring Powers of Attorney (EPAs) or Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) registered between 1 April 2013 – 31 March 2017.

The fee is set by the Ministry of Justice and should be based on an amount that covers the costs of the service the OPG provides.  During this period the OPG received more applications which led to a decrease in their operating costs and as a result refunds can be claimed.

All refunds must be claimed by 31 January 2021 by the donor (person making the Power of Attorney) or the Attorney.  The refund will also include 0.5% interest and the refunds that are available are set out below:

When you paid the fee             Refund for each power of attorney

April to September 2013              £54
October 2013 to March 2014       £34
April 2014 to March 2015            £37
April 2015 to March 2016            £38
