A talented young solicitor has joined top regional law firm Furley Page as part of its highly-regarded dispute resolution team.
Deborah Geering, aged 26, advises on all commercial disputes, including contracts, construction, company and partnership disputes, as well as professional negligence and intellectual property.
She joins a rapidly expanding team of experienced dispute resolution specialists, who have gained an enviable reputation for helping corporate clients to resolve disputes quickly and cost-effectively before they ever reach court.
Peter Hawkes, senior partner and head of Dispute Resolution at Furley Page, said: “Whilst our team has extensive experience of representing clients in courts at all levels, we regard litigation as the last resort. We will always seek to resolve disputes in an economic and practical way, including direct negotiation, mediation and arbitration.
“It’s our expertise in this field that has gained the dispute resolution team a ranking in Chambers UK and a recommendation in The Legal 500.
“Deborah’s appointment will further strengthen the excellent service we provide. She is an aspiring and motivated young solicitor with a great understanding of business priorities, particularly when managing disputes. She will be an invaluable asset to our growing team.”
As well as her experience in private legal practice, Deborah has developed her commercial expertise by working as an in-house lawyer with a firm of chartered accountants with offices in London and Canterbury which acts for a wide range of entrepreneurial businesses.
Deborah studied law at the University of East Anglia and undertook her legal practice course at the College of Law in London, where she obtained a distinction. She completed her legal training with an established Kent practice.
Outside of work, Deborah organises and runs the Canterbury Young Professionals, a networking organisation with over 130 members designed to help professional young people get to know each other, form lasting business relations and facilitate referral work.
Former Ashford School pupil Deborah is also a keen skier and horse rider and regularly takes part in charity fund-raising events. She lives in Wye with her husband Adam.
