Furley Page celebrates outstanding results

02 November 2010

As the UK’s independent national legal guides, Chambers UK and The Legal 500, publish their annual rankings, leading regional law firm Furley Page is celebrating some outstanding results.

For the first time, Chambers UK rates the firm’s personal injury team, citing department head Michael Longmore and Neille Ryan – partner and specialist in industrial diseases - as ‘leaders in their field’.

Chambers mentions Michael’s ‘strong reputation for handling catastrophic injury claims’, praising his ‘open and honest approach’ and ‘ability to dissect and get to the heart of the problem immediately’.

Neille is described as a ‘knowledgeable expert, an excellent tactician and a conscientious professional’ with a ‘very personable, very human’ approach to a range of cases including stress claims, workplace accidents, RTAs and occupational diseases.

The status of the employment team has risen – Chambers now rates it in band two – with department head Andrew Masters and Amanda Okill listed as experts in their field. Andrew is commended for his experience in advising educational institutions on all aspects of employment law.

Family lawyer Susi Gillespie, who specialises in children’s work, is praised by Chambers for her ‘enthusiasm and straightforward attitude’.

And there’s another ‘first’ from Chambers which ranks the firm’s dispute resolution team – headed by senior partner Peter Hawkes – highlighting its ‘proactive approach, strong client service and business-minded advice’. Listing Peter as a leader in his field, it praises his ‘great commercial nous and real sense of empathy with his clients’.

For the third year running,  Furley Page debt recovery team - is also recommended by Chambers.

The Legal 500 mentions Furley Page in 13 practice areas – notably in corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, human resources, insurance, private client, public sector and real estate.

Two lawyers are singled out for a mention: Russell Wright, partner and a member of the corporate and commercial team, who ‘goes the extra mile’ and David Hall, head of property and dispute resolution, who is ‘very well informed’.

Peter Hawkes said: “These are strong results in a competitive market which endorse Furley Page’s strategy to maintain the strength of its teams during the current economic climate. We know clients appreciate the quality of our service and it’s rewarding for this to be recognised by these guides.”
