Karen Cook, Senior HR Manager at law firm Furley Page, completed the Folkestone Rotary Half Marathon on Sunday 30 September, raising vital funds for local disabled children’s charity SNAAP in the process.
Karen, who finished third in her age-group, said: “I was delighted to complete the half marathon and raise money for a fantastic local charity, SNAAP, which provides much-needed leisure activities and support for disabled children and their families living in East Kent.
“At Furley Page, I am an active member of the firm’s health and wellness initiative, which encourages our staff get more active and live healthier lifestyles, so to a certain extent this was about practising what I preach and setting a good example!
“The hot weather over the summer really impacted my training, so I didn’t have as long to prepare as I would have liked, but I’m very pleased with my time. I plan to take a little time off training to recover, then I’ll begin again in earnest for my next competitive event, the Canterbury 10 Mile Road Race in the New Year.”
