Kent Lawyer Gets Pat On The Back From Legal Profession

15 December 2009

A Kent family law solicitor has received a significant pat on the back from the legal profession.

Susi Gillespie, a member of the family law team at leading regional law firm Furley Page, has just passed her Higher Rights of Audience Advocacy Training Course with flying colours – and her answer in relation to her ‘trial strategy’ was so impressive that it may be used as a model for future candidates.

Susi specialises in family breakdown, divorce and cohabitation disputes but her main area of interest is issues involving children.

James Muir-Little, partner and head of family law at Furley Page, said: “While only a minority of cases that we deal with end up in the High Court, the fact that Susi has obtained this qualification means that our clients know they are being represented by a highly competent advocate.

“Depending on your particular case, the advantage of being represented by a solicitor rather than a barrister is that your solicitor has the detailed knowledge of your case that comes from knowing you for months, if not years. In contrast, barristers usually receive your papers just a few days before the hearing.”
